When MAA sets foot in Hyderabad
Since the month of July something that motivates a Bengali to keep going with the daily "ghisi piti jindagi" is Durga puja. Our hearts seems to pop out from their cages in the hope of 4 days of happiness. But, not all Bengalis are lucky enough to set foot at their homes during Maa's homecoming. For them the only probable options are either you seek for some happiness or just let go. This time I kept my will power going with the fire in my belly of not screwing up my Durga Puja. By somehow managing to flick out from daily schedules for two days, ignoring the heavy rains, explored the twin cities on bike through twelve Durga puja Committees. So, heres presenting Hyderabad Puja Parikroma, 2017.
Utsab Cultural Association, Hitech City
This particular puja is closest to my heart, not just because I am visiting this place since the last two years or it is closest to my residence. The ambience of this place, the people of the committee and their heart warming welcomes, the cultural programmes and everything related to this place reminds you of home.
Cyberabad Bengali Association, Miyapur
I will run out of words if I will try to describe the beauty of the pandal and the idol. This particular pujo reminded us of the block buster theme pujos of Kolkata. Besides, the various food stalls in this place presenting plethora of mouth watering Bengali dishes was beyond comparison. CBA, Miyapur had beautifully managed to put up a mini Kolkata in the bosom of Hyderabad.
Arunadaya Sangha, Chintal
This particular puja had welcomed us on a Navami morning with the tempting aroma of Luchi and Aloor Dam. A typical parar pujo forecasting the synchronisation among each and every member. If you are missing those good old para pujo days, then this place marks a must visit, may be next year. The ambience of this place and the warmness among the people was mesmerising to watch.
Bengali Sanskritik Sangha, Lothakunta
,
A pujo and pujo r mela at the same time. What not is there? From saree stalls to Bengali mishti. Besides the simultaneous Sanskritik Programme for kids was a delight to watch. I bet at this place you cannot differentiate between Hyderabad and Kolkata.
Vendanga Sammilani, Ved Vihar
The best part of this pujo is the typical "ek chalar thakur" or devi and her kids in just a single backdrop. The ambience of this pujo was very heart warming. The antakshari competition and their way of enjoying every moment of the day had added a big smile on our faces. We left this place with a happy heart.
Bangiya Shiksha Niketan, Balanagar
The USP of this place is the Durga idol. Maa and her daughters dressed up in typical Bengali sada sarees with lal paar had added spark to the event.
Navarun Sangha, Balanagar
This place forced me to believe the fact that the Bengalis are present at every corner of the world. It was shocking for me to watch such a huge chunk of Bengali population living in Hyderabad. Something which I cannot forget about this place is a little girl's performance on the latest dance numbers. Her flex and thumkas had literally knocked me off from my senses. It was amazing experience to visit this place.
Bengali Cultural Association, Masab Tank
One of the posh pujas of the town. The beautiful place, the intellectual crowd along with the star studded cultural programmes were simply the icing on the cake.
Bangiya Sanskritik Sangha, Secunderabad
Popularly known as the Durga Puja of Keyes High School. This pujo collects the greatest hype in the city. And, visiting this place actually clarified the reason of the hype. From the beautiful decor to the cultural programme, everything is grand. For the first time I watched live Chow dance, which is a tribal art form of Medinipur seeking world wide attention. All thanks to the association for giving platform to such dieing art forms. The place is huge and you name any bong food, it is there at finger tips. A visit to this place seemed to be one of the best things that happened to me in Hyderabad.
Bengali Swarnasilpi Association, Secunderabad
To be precise a beautiful pujo and a beautiful idol. To me this association boasted the best idol in the twin cities.
Hyderabad Bengalee Samity, Domalguda
None can beat the Bengali spirit. Yes, its true and Hyderabad Bengalee Samity went one step further to prove it with their impeccable dance over the" Dhanker beats" even at night 2:00 a.m. The momos and Bahubali biriyani of this place had won our hearts.
Hyderabad Bengali Welfare Association, Charminar
This place boasted the beautiful Dhanker Saaj of Maa and her children. The crowd here manifested the fact that rain or late night can never be a constraint for the Bengali spirit.
Hence, with this I ended my pandal hopping in Hyderabad. But, being a Bong the particular food corner which served my intestinal cravings for Bengali food is my second home in Hyderabad- Kolkata House, Kondapur.
The Pujo special "Chingri macher malaikari", "Doi Bhetki" and "Babumoshai Mutton" had simply complemented our Pujo experience.
So, lets bid farewell to "Maa Durga" with a heavy heart yet happy hope of
"Asche Bochor, Abar Hobe!"
