Set the Goddess free!

"India" the land of diversity, art, culture and hypocrisy. Indians take great pride in brooding over their culture, values, respect etc etc and a long list. But, why does Indians don't brood over their hypocrisy? That is the most integral part of our so called system. Here, a girl is claimed as "ghar ki lakshmi" yet holds the highest rate of girl child infanticide. We worship goddesses like Maa Durga, Maa Kali as the symbol of strength and then sexually assault a girl on street. But,such issues has become very casual for us because after all India runs on the platform of patriarchy society where "maard ko kabhi dard nahin hota" instead "maard to daard dete hain"is in fashion.

No, don't take me wrong for those feminist types. I am not a feminist. The concept of feminist itself is a hypocrisy, it is moreover like staying under the veil of discrimination demanding for equality. These thoughts has seeped out from a different pipeline. During the auspicious occasion of Diwali where a part of India is worshiping Devi Lakshmi and the rest of India is worshiping Maa Kali, the goddess of strength to overcome the evil energy, the social media platforms are taken a storm by #Me_Too campaign. This campaign was initiated by Actress Alyssa Milano who worked with one of alleged victims of Hollywood Producer Harvey Weinstein's sexual assault, Rose McGowan encouraged women to share their stories of assault and harassment with the world to demand their justice. Then the rest is history. 

Recently, while scrolling through my facebook and twitter handle I was stupefied to see that every next door girl someday or the other has been trapped under the misery of sexual harassment. And, that really pushed me to question our rights to live on his motherland when we cannot protect her daughters. India is a country ranking top in terms of rape, acid attacks and every other act which can strip down a women's self respect. India is a country where worshiping and assaulting a women is just like two sides of a coin. India is a country where parents does not permit their daughters' late night plans, not because they consider women independence to be null and void but because they want to protect their darlings from being ripped off like a piece of meat. Here objectifying a women is a mode of entertainment and judging the character with the perimeter of her open skin is the way of living.

The #Me_Too campaign has helped many women to come out of their cocoons and share their tragic little stories. It has opened many eyes and has in brief showed the dark face of a democratic society. So, the next time you mock us by saying "Women wants equal rights, at the same time demands ladies seat", give us only equal respects, may be that will be a beginning of a new day. And, before you judge us again,"Go get yourself a life".
