"Carcass Left Behind" - Covid 19 at a glimpse
Corona Virus disease or popularly known as Covid 19 has taken the World on a whirl in the past couple of months. A microscopic organism unleashed itself by devastating families, economies, share markets and most importantly slaughtering millions of life.
Digging into the origin, among many permutations and combinations the most acceptable story goes something like this:
The disease grew in the womb of China at a place named Wuhan. Studies believe that bat is a carrier of the disease and un-sanitized bat meat exposed market and consumption of the same had been the fuel in the fire. The unknown serial killer got itself noticed in late December 2019 or early January 2020. But, it was early March until the global alarm was blown.
Now, how did Covid plan this world tour. January 25th, 2020 was the Chinese New Year. New year eve is the time to spend with friends and family, but little could be mapped that it can be the blueprint of a Pandemic. France, Italy being the sassy fashion capital of the globe, homes a substantial amount of Chinese workers and their holiday plan to China late January actually became the home ground for this global disaster. These workers to their way back to Europe became the flag bearer of Pandemic that this generation will ever witness.
Being considered as a common flu in its initial stages, Covid only showed its vampire teeth until it started snatching lives of mass population in Europe. The elderly being the most vulnerable fell as an easy prey to Corona. This is when the chairs shook of WHO followed by the planet. But by then, Corona already started laying coffins around globally.
We the generation who are well accustomed to the terms as Weekend getaway, long drives, night outs, party animals also got educated with the terms like Quarantine, Lock down, Social Distancing etc.
Who thought that beside Food, Clothing, Shelter considered to be basic necessities; we would also welcome masks and hand sanitizers to the list. The so called "latex protection" would also raise its bar to gloves. The world lost and found itself in a state of panic. While the stocks came crashing down, the lives became stagnant. It was just a silent mourn for the souls passing by failing to hold on a little longer.
We saw one by one the countries around the globe started participating in the death race, a race beyond any Super power's control. But the thing which brings me to surprise is how we human never loose hope. Homo sapiens are the smartest animals and we proved ourselves in this sensitive time through the balcony concerts, the online theatricals, Augmented reality way of living and of course through our Work from Homes.
Though there are millions of reason to qualify the statement that this present time is nothing less than a nightmare, but this year has also taught us many things. It taught us to share and care. It taught us to survive together as a society being socially distant. It taught us the importance of family, the worth of every penny. It taught us
" When the snow fall and the white wind blow, the lone wolf dies but the pack survives"
Yes, we are together in the battle and it is not an one-man army show.
Now, just like every battle ends, every dark tunnel breaks through into a ray of light even this disease will have an end. Countries throughout the length and breadth of the globe has dedicated themselves in
ground breaking researches of Corona preventive vaccines. Though, realistically it is a time taking process but few vaccine formulas have already set foot in the human trials building up hope for the entire human race. The planet at its stand still is patiently waiting to perceive that moment when prayers meet science giving birth to miracles.
But, till then the only resolution in this time is to "Live" and "Let Live", of course not by holding hands but by standing beside 6 feet apart, by sharing with and caring the ones in need, by staying stronger together near or far. And, most importantly by believing this too shall pass.
As I come to the end, would like to quote few precious words of Mr. Ratan Tata standing in a situation of Pandemic.
" 2020 is the year to survive, not to make profits."
