All Ends To Begin

         "Chotu I am proud of you." speaks Chotu's mother as she takes her last breathe. This story is about a 14 year old boy Chotu who almost gained an experience equivalent to 40 years trying to fight with poverty, society, illness of mother etc. Chotu like every other teenage boy of his age had a childhood, had dreams but everything shattered into a nightmare as his father left them to start a new life. Chotu did not wake up every day to get ready for school. He was the home maker as well as the rice earner of the family. His life was black and white but he had distant colorful dreams. Every morning after doing the household works and taking care of his ailing mother, he used to run to Arif Bhai's garage. There he was pocket-size employee who was a dynamite in small technical works, to hover about and bring tea for the owner.

           This is how he used to spend his day. During the lunch time, he never used to chill whereas he used to polish shoes. The only purpose of such hard work was to earn penny and buy medicines for his cancer affected mother. The only thing he feared was loneliness, hence, he could do anything and every thing for the good health and happiness of his mother. Every night when he used to return covered in dust and stain, the only hope that sparkled in his eyes was his mother's smile. After a tiring day he used to go to sleep in rags with dreams of being a "slum dog millionaire" some day.

            But one rainy day he returns to see his mother in her last minutes, her breathes were high and she passed away leaving his eyes blurred with tears, just like the window pane on a rainy night. His life turned into a tragedy, his bad dreams came true. Every earning, every hard work, every penny of his became meaningless. As he returns from the funeral to the lonely house, he sits with the only picture of his mother. Tears were rolling down, when he sees in her eyes a way ahead, a world ahead. That very moment he recollects that failure was not something his mother taught him and he promises to himself-  "From today, I will win all battles. I know I will not be able to win them with you, but will do it for you, in the memories of you, just be there always with me MAA".
